Outreach St. Martin’s has a permanent commitment to assist the needy beyond our parish by using our financial, material and human resources, and with our hearts and minds. Our commitment to social justice and outreach is forever growing and includes these activities and ministries:
•
Baskets of donated food are collected every Sunday and distributed to designated human service agencies
•
Clothing is sorted and distributed twice a month to the needy through downtown Providence meal sites
•
Names and anonymous donors fund the purchase of special clothing for The Cloak, our clothing ministry
•
Volunteers prepare and serve meals at Amos House and Epiphany Soup Kitchen
•
Proceeds from our annual (since 1928) May Breakfast are donated to one or more of our Outreach Core Group recipients
•
Parishioners of St. Martin’s organize, solicit donations, create and decorate or our annual Gifts and Greens Fair, held each December. Our Great Hall is transformed into a festive marketplace with greens, gifts, and marvelous food available for purchase. Recently Soujourner House, a domestic violence agency, and Epiphany Mission House were the recipient of our proceeds.
•
We’ve worked with our neighbors at Temple Beth-El and Grace Church in the operation of auxiliary shelters for homeless people during mid-winter emergencies.
